<~~~ Good Bye 2008 ~~~>

Two more days and we will say good bye to 2008 and welcome 2009 with a hope to see a better year than last year. Make new resolutions, goals for the year.  For me year 2008 has been like a 'Roller Coaster ride' and to be specific something like Mamba ride in worlds of fun, kansas MO. Mamba ride is one of the tallest, longest and fastest ride in the world. it first takes riders 200ft above ground level and then flings them toward earth at 75 miles per hr and ride duration is approx 3mins. In that 3mins,  it takes approx 2mins to reach 200ft and then all the fun and thrill is in just 1min..... In 2008, i have seen days which were slow and monotonous, most precious and happy days,  not forgetting sad and low days, funny days, fighty days, thrilling days etc etc When i look back in 2008, though i reached few very important milestones in my life, am not very satisfied with the way my days passed.  I just wish i don't get to see another year like this one in my life.  Life took

Am i with the right partner ???

Another forward from my mailbox......i felt its Worth Posting it in my blog. During a seminar, a woman asked," How do I know if I am with the right person?" the author then noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so he said, "It depends. Is that your partner?" In all seriousness, she answered "How do you know?" Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind replied the author. Here's the answer. Every relationship has a cycle...In the beginning; you fall in love with your partner. You anticipate their calls, want their touch, and like their idiosyncrasies. Falling in love wasn't hard. In fact, it was a completely natural and spontaneous experience. You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called "falling" in love. People in love sometimes say, "I was swept of my feet." Picture the expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothin

Golden Rules for Career Success - Richard Moran

Richard Moran ~ Working  as a business consultant all over the world, I have discovered some basic career-related rules that everyone should know but many don' t.        Business is made up of ambiguous victories and nebulous defeats. Claim them all as victories.        Keep track of what you do; someone is sure to ask.        Be comfortable around senior managers, or learn to fake it.        Never bring your boss a problem without some solution.        You are getting paid to think, not to whine.        Long hours don't mean anything; results count, not effort.        Write down ideas; they get lost, like good pens.        Always arrive at work 30 minutes before your boss.        Help other people network for jobs. You never know when your turn will come.        Don't take days off sick unless you are.        Assume no one can / will keep a secret.        Know when you do your best morning, night, under pressure, relaxed; schedule and prioritize your work accordingly.

Happy Deepavali

Image
This time deepavali was special for me as this one being my first deepavali after my marriage and first time am celebrating the festival outside India. I had really no clue how we are going to celebrate the festival here in Bristol. On Sunday, sharath's friend called us and asked us to join on the festival day. It kind of excited me. If i was in India it wudn't have mattered whether i celebrated deepavali by firing crackers or not. But here it kind of mattered to me i guess that's becoz i feel i am close to my home and not missing anything being so far away. I enjoyed my deepavali here. Had enough crackers to blast, friends to enjoy and food to eat. Food.....for the first time i cooked food for around 8 to 10 people ofcourse with the help of my sweet husband... and again ofcourse he has to help me becoz i was cooking for his frnds only!!!! ;) Last but not the least, the pleasant surprise from my dad. He wrote a ashu kavithe ( an instantaneous poem written on the spot) for b

TWO TOUGH QUESTIONS

Image
This is again one more forward that i received from one of my friend long time back. Recently i was searching something in my inbox and found this one. A Very memorable and thoughtful mail so thought of posting it here in my blog. Am sure you will read this twice and make you think for awhile. QUESTION 1 : If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis, would you recommend that she have an abortion? Read the next question before scrolling down to the answer of this one. QUESTION 2 : It is time to elect a new world leader, and your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three leading candidates: CANDIDATE A: Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologists. He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day. CANDIDATE B: He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whisky every even

Mysooru Dasara !!!!

Image
Today i received few pics of dasara from one of my friend and that made me write few lines here. Dasara ~ A Ten day festival which have been celebrated by kings of Mysore for centuries. Though i lived very near to mysore , i have never seen Dasara procession which happens on the last day. I have seen the procession only in Tv . I still remember the days when we were kids, my mom used to tell me and my brother to finish our lunch soon so that we can watch the procession LIVE without any interruptions :) As we grow up, watching the same kind of procession every year kind of made us boring and add to that there were more channels telecasting movies or some other special shows on the festival day. I guess this will be the case with most of us. Its quite natural to forget the root as we grow up. What would we pass off to the next generation if we ourselves don't have interest in our culture and heritage ?? I remember my mom telling me stories of her childhood. She has seen the proc

Something Special and Unique Gift !!!

Image
Monday begining of the week...as usual i got up, made breakfast and sent my husband to office and got busy with my household work. Around 11.30, someone knocked the front door and i opened the door without knowing what is awaiting for me... hmmmm there was delivery guy holding a box infront of me. Dont know who sent the box to me, i signed, said thanks to him and came inside. Very curoious wanted to check first who sent it to me and it was none other than my husband.. hmm that was the surpize gift i got from him. Was very happy to check what would be the gift for me.... and can any one guess ???? I myself didnt, It was a " Moon ". Yes a Moon.. was wondering how did he ever got an idea to gift me this and then i remembered few days back, before sleeping i opened windows so that 'moon light' can come inside our room. My husband is very generous and big hearted, instead of moon light, he gifted me the moon itself... very smart ;) This gift will be most memorable to me a

~***~ September 1752 ~***~

Image
Recently one of my forwarded this mail to me which i found pretty interesting and something which all of us should know. hence posting it in my blog ;) I am talking about Time history. In the year 1752, September has something special. If you type cal 9 1752 on any Unix command line to get a calendar of this particular month you’ll get this output: Explanation for what you see: Isn't the output queer? A month with whole of eleven days missing. This was the time England shifted from Roman Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, and the king of England ordered those 11 days to be wiped off the face of the month of September of 1752. (What couldn't a King do in those days?!) And yes, the workers worked for 11 days less, but got paid for the entire 30 days. And that's how "Paid Leave" was born. Interesting isn't it ??

A Wednesday !!!

On a Monday afternoon i feel like writing about Wednesday. 'A Wednesday' is not 3rd day of the week its the movie name. yes, am talking about writer-director Neeraj Pandey's "A Wednesday". This is one class movie and has a very valid and real message. The film has the power to change how we look at the world. One should watch this movie. We have been watching so many movies all these years and its very easy to predict what will be the next move and in some movies we can even predict the dialogues.. its like putting different masala to the same old stale food!!! But trust me 'A Wednesday' can prove all your predictions wrong. The director has really done a great job and same with the actors. Senior actors anupam kher and Naseeruddin Shah excel in their acting and same with junior actors like Jimmy Shergill and Aamir Bashir. There is no hype, no masala, fights, songs etc etc Just the movie and its message. The climax is ultimate and the conversation betwe

Unity In Diversity

I chose this name to my post because most of us do remember reading this in our text books during school days. This is what our teachers used to preach everyday in school and we did believe that and felt good about our nation. As we grew up and started to understand what is happening around us, its natural to ask ourselves do we really have unity in diversity. Ok friends, by now you might have hinted what am i trying to write here... yes you guessed it right. Its all about the controversy we are hearing in news "Marathi Vs Hindi" ... Is language dividing Indians, instead of uniting us ??? Do we really need this kind of controversies ?? I personally feel what ever statement Mrs.Bachchans made in public might have hurt Marathi people but then she didn't speak in some language which they don't understand like Latin, Arabic or Malayalam. She spoke in 'Hindi' which is considered as our national language. I feel there was no need for Mr.Raj Thackeray to make a big i

Balloon Festival 08 @ bristol

Image
Fortunately i was able to attend bristol international balloon fiesta. It was 30th anniversary celebration. but what say, as usual crazy british weather ruined all the fun. they say 'Bristol without balloons would be like London without the red buses...' but this time, bristol had to celebrate its balloon festival without balloons :) becoz of the heavy rain on saturday .. The other highlight was Red arrows aircraft show. Red Arrows dazzled crowds and set hearts racing as the aircraft passed with pinpoint accuracy. They showcased amazing shapes and few of them were just WOW!!! I have published few pics of the show. Take a look... Lastly, chopper ride. I had my first chopper ride experience here and it was too good especially the view... amazing!!! It feels so good if the piolt could take us around the world...wow that would be an amazing view... we paid £30 for 5 mins ride and i felt that's bit expensive :( we managed to take few pics from top and this is how bristo

A new begining in my life... so far so good :-) its been nearly a month after moving to the other part of the world. My Life style has completely changed from what i was having before. Trying to enjoy every moment of it. Leaving everyone n starting a new life has its own pain.. but as everyone knows 'to gain something v need to loose something'.. I just wish for more gain N less lose. :)

Last day.....

yup today is the last day in this company....may be my last post writing from office using office laptop......last day as a working gal... last day as a independent gal..... last day... feeling very nostalgic.. 2 1/2 yrs don't know how i finished in this company. I always wanted to give importance to personal life than career.....now the time has come and my Career has taken 2nd priority. Monday morning i get up and it takes some time to digest that i don't have job in my hand. I don't have to getup at 5am and get ready for my shift. i don't have to think about SR's that i need to finish by the end of the day.... i don't have to wish for less issues for the day.... in 24hrs, i was occupied for almost 15hrs in work. I don't know how to utilize that 15hrs from tomorrow onwards. Will everybody have the same nostalgic feeling like me ??? so many memories associated with this company... i am so attached with the company rather than people over here... yeah i hav

PEOPLE COME INTO OUR LIFE FOR A REASON....

Image
This post is dedicated to my very best and dear friend......... Most of us would have thought about this at least once in our life 'why did he/she come into my life ???' How much ever we try to find the reason behind it.. it becomes even more complex...Instead just enjoy each and every moment with that special person in our life... Here it goes.... People come into our life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When we know which one it is, we will know what to do for that person. When someone is in our life for a REASON , it is usually to meet a need we have expressed. They have come to assist us through a difficulty, to provide us with guidance and support, to aid us physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason we need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on our part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end . Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes
